Overview

The journey to Rara Lake is amazing. Rara Lake, the largest lake in Nepal and one of its most pristine lakes, is located in the country's far western region at a height of 2,990 meters. The smallest national park in the nation, Rara National Park, is home to a variety of wildlife species and lush greenery. Camping is available close to the lake's glistening waves for travelers. Rara Lake, which is protected by Rara National Park, is a great place to see threatened species such as the Himalayan black bear, musk deer, leopard, goral, and Himalayan thar. At Rara, unspoiled coniferous woodland with blue pine, black juniper, oak, Himalayan cypress, and other pertinent species may be found at elevations ranging from 1,800 m to 4,048 m. Rara Lake is a remote location with pristine terrain and vegetation.

A flight to Nepalgunj precedes the commencement of our Rara Lake Trek, which is followed the following morning by a second mountain flight to Jumla. Given that the airport is located in a mountainous area, weather conditions should be favorable for the flight to Jumla. It should be a good idea to have one or two buffer days. Our trekking expedition begins and ends at Jumla. The journey to the Tibetan border passes through desolate countryside. Jumla is renowned for its beautiful apples, so visiting the orchards there can be a wonderful local experience. The road passes through the charming villages of tribes with Hindu, Malla, and Tibetan influences, each with a wealth of ancient traditions and practices. The Nepalese refer to it with pride as the "Queen of Lakes."
In comparison to other regions, Nepal's far western region continues to lag behind in terms of development. The terrain makes it difficult to maintain the infrastructure. The people, way of life, and culture you will experience in distant Nepal, however, will be real and a life-changing experience. Another highlight of this hike is Sinja Valley. The "Devanagari" script dates back to the 13th century and was discovered on the cliffs and in adjacent Dullu, the area where the Nepali language first emerged. The 'off-the-beaten-path' trekking route has the unique feature of traversing numerous ridges at a height of 3000 m, and it leads to communities where people still live but do so in a way that is completely different from other places.
Autumn and spring (February to late April) are the ideal times to go trekking at Rara Lake (late September to late October). As more tourists now visit Rara National Park, tourist infrastructure and services have grown over time.
